Background. I graduated from Hampton University with a Bachelors in Psychology and a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
Credentials and Licensing. I'm a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) in the State of new Jersey. I am under the supervision of Dr. Stephanie DiZenzo-Priestley, PhD, LPC, ACS.
Areas of passion and specialty. I have experience working in an inpatient rehabilitation center with high risk clients as well as 2 years of experience working in private practice. I have supported clients struggling with crisis, stress, depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, and behavioral disorders. I treat individuals, couples, and families and especially have a passion for children, adolescents, and young adults.
Approach. My approach to client care is thorough and empathetic, ensuring a compassionate, safe, and non judgemental environment for all clients. I truly believe the therapeutic relationship and the client’s motivation are the keys to client success. I utilize a variety of modalities, including but not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and mindfulness techniques.
By combining support and the use of evidence-based and strength-based practices, I use an integrative approach that is goal oriented, person-centered, and relational. I take pride in meeting my clients where they’re at in their journey, and guiding them towards growth, healing, and self acceptance. I also prioritize creating individualized plans tailored to each client and their needs, in order to cultivate client resilience and improve their overall well-being.
